Montreal is also home to our 155,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, equipped with advanced processing and packaging systems. This site produces many of our over-the-counter healthcare products, including Gravol™ and RUB-A535™.
Our History
Church & Dwight Co., Inc. is one of the world’s leading producers of sodium bicarbonate, better known as baking soda. Our story began in 1846, when John Dwight and his brother-in-law Dr. Austin Church began packaging baking soda in paper bags from their kitchens in New England.
In 1896, their descendants united under the name Church & Dwight Co., Inc., and by 1904, the company officially entered the Canadian market as Church & Dwight Limited.
Over the years, we’ve expanded through innovation and strategic acquisitions, adding trusted brands like Gravol™ and RUB-A535™ to our portfolio.
Today, ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda is a household staple used not just in kitchens, but in every corner of the home.
Our Iconic Logo
The ARM & HAMMER™ symbol dates back to the early 1860s, introduced by James A. Church, son of co-founder Dr. Austin Church. It depicts the arm of Vulcan, the Roman god of fire, wielding a hammer over an anvil - a symbol of strength and craftsmanship.
Originally featured on baking soda packages, the ARM & HAMMER™ logo now represents a wide range of trusted consumer and specialty products worldwide.
